Identity verification for individuals (KYC)

Updated over 2 months ago

i. How to begin verification for individuals

EQX requires identity verification for legal compliance and fraud prevention to ensure the security and integrity of our platform. Your account will have limited functionality until verified.

Users can initiate the verification process at the end of the onboarding phase when registering their account. Users may also be prompted to begin verifying their account upon signing back into their account or at the top of their dashboard once signed in.

However, at the start of the Alpha Phase the EQX team will allow users to verify their account on a rolling basis. We will notify users once they are able to verify their accounts.

ii. What information will be collected and how will it be used?

For individual KYC, EQX will collect the following user information:

  • First And Last Name

  • Date Of Birth

  • Country Of Birth

  • Country Of Residence

  • Address

  • Occupation Type

  • Primary Sources Of Funds

  • Primary Sources Of Assets

  • Asset Value Range

Once collected, you will be prompted to upload a copy of your government issued ID (e.g. passport, driver’s license, ID card) and a live selfie. The information is used to determine you are a real person and not using someone else’s identity to create an account, as well as verify the accuracy of the inputted information. Collecting this information is required for EQX to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regulations.

iii. What can I expect after submitting verification details?

Once verification is submitted, users will be processed and provided an update once they have been approved or denied access to the EQX app via email. While users wait for results they are free to explore the app with limited capability until their account is verified.

iv. Common verification issues and solution

Did not receive email verification code

If you do not see the email with a verification code to verify your email during KYC, make sure to check your spam folder and refresh your inbox. If you still did not receive a verification code please contact the Support Team at [email protected].

Uploading your ID (passport or driver's license)

Once a user has inputted their personal information during KYC they will be prompted to upload a picture of their ID using either their driver’s license, ID card, or passport. To ensure the most accurate results ensure your ID document photo meets the following requirements:

  • If the document has data on the front and back sides, the photos of both sides should be uploaded.

  • The information in the document is readable.

  • All corners of the document are visible and no foreign objects or graphic elements are present.

  • The uploaded photo has not been edited with any software

Taking a verification selfie

During the last step in the KYC verification process users will be prompted to take a live selfie. To avoid any errors ensure you are in a well-lit space, your face is fully visible and unobstructed by masks, hats or glasses. For best results take your selfie at eye level and avoid sudden movement as much as possible.
